Why God Said "In the Beginning" Before He Said Anything Else

The Bible doesn't begin with a problem. It begins with God.

Before the darkness. Before the void. Before the Spirit moved across the waters. Before anything was spoken into existence — there was God. And that sequence is not accidental. It is the most important theological statement ever made.

In the beginning, God.

Four words. But those four words change everything that comes after them.

Here's why it matters:

1. God was there before your problem existed.
Whatever you are facing right now — the diagnosis, the broken marriage, the financial crisis, the prodigal child — it did not catch God off guard. He was there before it began. He will be there after it ends. When you establish God's primacy in your thinking, your problem stops being the headline and becomes the footnote.

2. Everything starts with God or it doesn't start right.
We live in a culture that starts with self. What do I want? What do I feel? What do I deserve? And then we invite God in when things fall apart. But Genesis shows us a different order. God first. Everything else flows from that. Your marriage, your business, your ministry, your identity — when God is the beginning, the trajectory changes.

3. The enemy's first move is always to make you forget who was there first.
"Did God really say?" That was the serpent's question in the garden. He didn't deny God's existence. He just tried to move God from the beginning of the sentence to a footnote. When you forget that God was first, you start making decisions like He wasn't. And that's when everything unravels.

The victory that God has ordained for your life is not found at the end of your striving. It's found at the beginning — in the four words that established the entire framework of reality.

In the beginning, God.

Start there. Stay there. Everything else will follow.
